“Seeking the Exit" 23th August evening

第一コリント10:13
　あなたがたを襲った試練で、人間として耐えられないようなものはなかったはずです。神は真実な方です。あなたがたを耐えられないような試練に遭わせることはなさらず、試練と共に、それに耐えられるよう、逃れる道をも備えていてくださいます。(新共同訳)

1 Corinthians 10:13
　No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. (NKJ)

　こんばんは。今日は夕礼拝でお話しする機会をいただき、感謝しております。
　この機会に、私の一番好きなみ言葉を、紹介させていただきます。

　Good evening. It’s my pleasure to have an opportunity to share the evening service with you. I’d like to introduce you to my favorite verses.

　私たち、クリスチャンになってからもさまざまな試練に遭うことがあります。
　そんな時、このみ言葉は、私たちに励ましを与えてくれると思います。

　Even though we are Christians, God sometimes tests us.
These verses encourage me when we face obstacles.

　この「試練」という言葉は、みなさんお使いのＮＫＪ New King James新欽定訳では　temptation 「誘惑」と訳していますが、新しいＴＥＶ　Today’s English Version　現代英語訳では、test「テスト、試験」と訳しています。

　The Japanese word “shiren” is translated to temptation in New King James, and test in Today’s English Version.

　日本語訳ですと、昔の口語訳では「試み」「試練」ですが、今の新共同訳では「誘惑」と訳されています。試練はサタンによる誘惑でもあるということで「試練」のギリシャ語πειρασμοｓ　peirasmos　には「誘惑」という意味も入ってきているからです。

　The translation into Japanese is changing time by time. Recent translation is often referred to Greek words.

　もともとの旧約聖書のヘブライ語　nissayon の意味は「試験」に近いそうです。
　韓国語でも漢字語を使うことが多いのですが、韓国語の聖書では、日本語の「試験」と同じ漢字を使って、「試験　シホム　si-heom」と読んでおります。

　Original, Hebrew word “nissayon” means closer to test than temptation.
In Korean, Kanji is often used and they use the same Kanji as test in Japanese and read “si-heom”.

　つまり、私たちの受ける苦難は、神様が私たちに与えるテスト、試験だということです。私は高校の教員をしています。生徒は学校でテストを受けるのはいやがりますが、試験がなくなったら、どうでしょうか。みなさん、あまり勉強しないでしょうね。
　In fact, suffering we experience is the test that God provides us.
I am a high school teacher. Students hate to take a test. What if there isn’t any test at school. I guess no one would study.

　神さまは、私たちを愛していればこそ、私たちが成長するようにと、甘やかさずに試験を与えてくださる。ルターは言っています。他人の子ではなく、自分の子どもだと思うからこそ、神さまは私たちに試験を与えてくださる。試練は喜ぶべきことだと。

　God sometimes tests us, and that’s because he loves us and wants us to grow without being spoiled.
Luther said God test us because we are his children. We should be pleased with the tests.

　でも、私たち、弱い者ですから、やっぱり試験はできれば避けたいと思います。
私たちは「主の祈り」で、いつもこのように祈りますね。
　「私たちを試みに遭わせず、悪よりお救いください」

　However, since we are weak, we wish not to be tested.
In the Lord’s Prayer, we say, “But deliver us from evil.”

　この「試み」も、ＮＫＪでは　temptation「誘惑」と訳されていますが、ＴＥＶ　では　hard testing「難しいテスト」と訳しています。
　あまり難しい試験は、勘弁してください、と神様にお祈りしているわけですね。

　This verse is translated to “temptation” in NKJ and translated as “hard testing” in TEV .
In other words, we pray saying, “Please forgive the tests that are too difficult.”

　しかし、私たちが受ける試験には、必ず逃れる道が備えられています。もし、試験を受けても、それが答えのない問題だったらどうでしょう。それは、インチキですね。でも、神さまは真実な方です。だから、試験を与えても、必ず答えは用意してくれています。

　However, we have answers for those tests. What if we take a test, and there is not an answer. That’s cheating. God is faithful, so when he tests us he prepares the answer.

　この「逃れる道」という訳ですが、私は最初に読んだ時に、試験を受けないで逃げてしまってもよいのかな、と思いました。「逃れる」という言葉には、試験を避けて逃れるといった感じがあると思います。

　When I read today’s verse first, I interpreted as its okay to escape without experience the hardship. To escape can be interpreted in many ways.

　でも、ここの英訳を見ますと、ＮＫＪではthe way of escape「エスケープする道、脱出する道」ですが、ＴＥＶではただ、a way out「出口」となっています。もともとの、ギリシャ語はどうなのでしょうか。

　Let’s take a look at TEV, it just says “ a way out” and “the way of escape” in NKJ.
How about in Greek?


　西南学院の青野先生が、岩波から聖書の翻訳を出しています。そこでは「出口」と訳しています。さらに注には、この元のギリシャ語εκβασιｓ ekbasis は、試練を避けて「逃れる道」ではなく、試練のまっただ中を通って抜ける「出口」だと書いています。

　Aonosensei in Seinan University published the Greek into Japanese translated Bible. It’s translated as exit in that Bible. In the note, it says the word “ekbasis” in Greek means; it’s not to escape from hardships but to find the way out.

　私たちは「試練」にあうと、つい逃げてしまいたくなる「誘惑」にとらわれます。でも、試練に正面からぶつかっていけば、出口は必ず見つかる。人生の迷路に迷う時でも、必ず神さまは出口を用意してくださっている。恐れずに試練に向かっていきましょう。

　We tend to run away from trials. But we need to come across a trial from the front. Then we are able to find the way out. When we are lost in our life, God always prepares the right way. Let’s not hesitate to experience God’s test.

　最後に、私の証をひとつ簡単にさせていただきます。私の娘は小学校高学年から不登校気味になりました。いじめがあったようです。中学はほとんど学校に行きませんでした。
私にとって、これは大きな試練でした。祈りましたが、出口が見えませんでした。

　Lastly, let me give you a testimony. My daughter started refusing to go to school from the end of the primary school due to bullying. She almost didn’t attend the middle school. I suffered a lot about this issue. I prayed but couldn’t see the exit.

　でも、悩み祈る中で私自身も変えられていきました。それまで事情も知らず学校に行かない娘に腹を立てていたのですが、叱らないようにしました。また、仕事や趣味も控えめにして早く帰り、一緒に食事をしてスキンシップを持つ時間を増やすようにしました。

　Ever since I started praying about my daughter, I was changed too.
I used to be upset about her behavior, but I stopped scolding her, instead, avoided overwork and my hobby, tried to go home early to have dinner together and spend time as much as I could.

　その後、娘は高校に入ってからしだいにまた学校に行くようになりました。今年、三年になってからは、授業を一日も休まなくなりました。そして先日、娘は自分から希望して、ミッション系の短大を受験して、内定をいただきました。神さまに感謝します。

　Since she entered the high school, she gradually started going to school. Now she is asenior and hasn’t been absent this year. She hoped for herself and took an entrance examination for the Christian junior college and got an official offer. I thank God.

　先週、夏休みに子どもたちと鬼怒川温泉に行ってきました。人間が入って遊ぶ巨大迷路というのがあり、子どもたちが挑戦していました。それを上から見ていると、ちゃんと道筋が見えています。神さまもそのように見守ってくれているのだと思いました。

　Last week, my family and I went to Kinugawa onsen. There was a huge human maze and my children tried it. I was watching them form above and I could see the right way to go on. Then I thought that God should be watching us like this.

　みなさん、出口のない試練はありません。今、苦しんでいる方も、神さまに祈り続けていれば、きっと出口にたどり着けると思います。また、教会でも、教育館建築などの課題が与えられていますが、みなさんの力を合わせてきっと解決していけるでしょう。

　Any trail has an exit. Even if you are suffering right now, believe in God and keep praying. He always prepares the way out. In our church, we have a concern about new Kindergarten building construction. However I believe that we can overcome any obstacles together.

　とても解けないように見える試験にも解答があり、意味の見いだせないような困難にも神さまのご計画があるはずです。神さまが出口を用意してくださっていることを信じて、イエスさまと共に人生を歩んでいきましょう。短くお祈りします。

　There is an answer for the trial that seems impossible to solve, and there should be a plan of God even in the most difficult time with no meaning to be found. Let’s believe in God and live our life with Jesus.
　Let us pray.

　天にまします父なる神さま、どうか私たちを難しい試練に遭わせないでください。
　しかし、もしあなたのみ心で、私たちに試練を受けさせるようなことがありましたら、
あなたは真実な方ですから、どうぞ出口を用意して私たちを導いてください。

　Our father in Heaven, we hope not to experience any hardships. However, if to experience hardship is your will, lead us to the right way and help us find the exit.

　主イエスよ、あなたはいつも私たちと共にいて私たちの重荷を背負ってくださる方です。私たちが出口にたどり着くことができる時まで、私たちと共に歩んでください。
　このお祈り、イエスさまのみ名を通じて、天の父なる神さまにお捧げします。アーメン。

　Thank you for always being with us and carrying our burden.
